ENGIE is fully committed to tomorrow's low-carbon economy and has the ambition to assist all its customers in achieving their CO2 targets. Hydrogen (H2) can play an important role in this.
More specifically, we see a lot of potential for renewable H2 (hydrogen produced carbon-free) or low-carbon H2, especially for industry and the transport sector. For these customers, we want to be a long-term partner and accompany them in every step of their projects, from design to operation.
Indeed, ENGIE is present in the entire hydrogen value chain (production, storage, transport, commercialisation) and is today involved in about 100 hydrogen projects in more than 15 countries.
In addition, ENGIE is a member of the Belgian Hydrogen Council, which aims to further develop the future vision of hydrogen in our country, and we participate in molecular imports through the H2 Import Coalition.

Carmeuse, ENGIE and John Cockerill join forces to reduce industrial CO2 emissions in Wallonia
Carmeuse, ENGIE and John Cockerill have signed a Joint Development Agreement for an innovative Carbon Capture and Utilisation (“CCU”) project in Wallonia. This project will concentrate CO2 from an innovative type of lime kiln, combine it with green hydrogen and produce “e-methane”, a renewable gas that can be injected in the gas grid or used in transport or in the industry. The green hydrogen will be produced by a 75 MW electrolyser plant powered by green electricity. This project is the largest of its kind in the world. It opens new routes for significant carbon emission reductions in Europe and the world.
