Electricity is everywhere but remains invisible. Do you even know how it is produced? Is it difficult? Or on the contrary easy? Exciting, perhaps? Or highly technical? You will learn more by visiting one of our plants. Qualified guides will take you through the fascinating world of electricity.

Power stations to be visited

  • The nuclear power stations Doel and Tihange
  • The combined-cycle gas turbine plants (CCGT) Drogenbos (FR only), Herdersbrug and Saint-Ghislain
  • The wind farm Pathoekeweg
  • The pumped-storage station Coo (FR only) 
  • The conventional thermal power stations Ruien (FR only) which obtains 15% of its energy from biomass and Les Awirs (FR only) where a coal-fired unit has been converted in a 100% biomass unit

Practical information


  • Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (except on holidays)


  • Visitors must be 16 or over
  • Book 6 weeks in advance for nuclear power stations and 3 weeks in advance for other facilities
  • School groups must be accompanied (1 adult per 19 pupils)
