How it works?

Nuclear fuel

  • Uranium is the fuel used in the process of generating electricity by nuclear energy.
  • Before it can be used to generate power, natural uranium must first be transformed into nuclear fuel. This is a multi-stage process.
After being used, the nuclear fuel can either be reprocessed and reused (closed cycle) or conditioned for disposal (open cycle).
  • The future costs incurred in managing nuclear fuel are taken into account.
