The law and the organization of safety in Belgium adhere to the recommendations issued by international bodies, such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
In response to the operators and given the growing number of new facilities, the IAEA expanded its activities and starting in 1982 has proposed OSART services (Operational Safety Review Team).
