Electrabel and nuclear

The economic issues

The cost of energy in general and of electricity in particular is both an important element in modern life and a factor in the competitiveness of businesses. Because of its sectorial structure, this competitiveness is particularly important for Belgian industry, which is a large consumer of energy and accounts for a considerable number of jobs.

When we take all the costs into account, including those linked to the management of spent fuel and the future decommissioning of nuclear plants, electricity derived from nuclear power is among the most competitive.

Belgian nuclear power stations allow Belgian consumers to benefit from competitive electricity prices and also make it possible to consider the heavy investments necessary to ensure security of supply.
