In Belgium, Electrabel has about three fourths of the generating capacity available. In the Netherlands, the company is the leading electricity producer; an ambitious progamme aimed at improving the availability and reliability of its generating facilities has been introduced. In France, Electrabel has a highly complementary spread of generating facilities: in addition to its nuclear capacity, it has important baseload hydropower capacity, completed by peak capacity. In Italy, Electrabel bases its development on a structural partnership with Acea. In order to penetrate the Iberian market, Electrabel constructs its own generating facilities. In Spain, its first power station started operation in April 2006. In Portugal, the company has important wind capacity. In North-East Europe, Electrabel concentrates on more selective development (Germany, Poland, Hungary).
