Electrabel's sponsorship policy in Belgium considers rehabilitation to be another social responsibility. Electrabel has responded by backing four projects, the aim of which is to assist people who find themselves excluded from society.

The Mimi Foundation creates and backs projects whose goal is to improve the quality of life of cancer patients and, more particularly, those going through chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Electrabel has been assisting this association since 2006 to improve the material and psychological comfort of these patients, giving priority to those with limited financial resources. www.fondationmimi.be

The école et Surdité project (School and Deafness), which has received our financial backing for three years, seeks to combine the advantages of specialised and standard teaching by creating a bilingual and bi-cultural teaching method. This consists of groups of deaf pupils mixed with non-deaf pupils, the acquisition of two languages (French-sign language) in a natural setting and, lastly, an education similar to that for people without hearing difficulties. www.ecoleetsurdite.be

Since 2003, Electrabel has been in a partnership with the Walloon television channel RTBF in the Cap 48 campaigns. These campaigns are an opportunity to raise the awareness of the public about the difficulties in the social rehabilitation of the handicapped. Thanks to donations, many projects facilitating their rehabilitation have been created. www.cap48.be

The Belgian Paralympic Committee (BPC) grew out of the Belgian Olympic Interfederal Committee (BOIC). The BPC regards sports as a means for achieving the social integration of people beset by a physical handicap.
Already in sight of the 2004 Olympics of Athens, Electrabel had given its support to the athletes of the BPC. The company will continue to support them for the Beijing 2008 Games. www.paralympic.be
